Cover Design
Creating a stylish cover is one of the most important steps to creating your book design.
This is the first page/template that appears when you open your selected product from within Booked Compose.
Cover Diagram above...
The left hand side WITHIN THE RED LINE is the back of your book
The right hand side WITHIN THE RED LINE is the front
The spine is between the two central lines.
The area outside the red line is the bleed area. If your image comes right to the edge of either the front or back cover then it needs to fill the area outside the red line.
WE CANNOT BIND COVERS ONTO BOOKS WHERE THE IMAGE SITS ON OR FINISHES NEAR THE RED LINE. PLEASE CALL IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT.
Rules...
If your image does not run right to the edge of the front or back cover then it is advisable to leave approximately 20mm of white space inside the red line.
If your image goes right to the edge of the cover then you need to supply enough image to wrap around inside the book. See Info Bar top right.
Keep any important areas of your image well away from the spine... as you can see on the image above, some of the area of the cover becomes the dip of the spine.
